THE TEENAGE EXPERIENCE ISN'T THE SAME FOR EVERYONE AND THAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO BE OK WITH (a visual blog)

About halfway through the year, I decided to disassociate myself from my old friend group at school. I did this because of a multitude of reasons – one of which being differing social lifestyles, hence the title – and between then and the day I graduate, I wanted to document my life. Since then, through working on it in bits and pieces whenever I have spare time, it has evolved to having a life of its own – spanning many mediums and processes and exploring a variety of subjects and ideas. And as of currently, I have created 3,686 pieces for this project. Inspired by Hirmoix’s diaristic and intimate photography from the 2000s, I wanted to capture my teenage experience, as its different to most others, in the same detail – however unique or mundane or hormonal it might be.

From the start, the collection was designed to be seen in an artist book / photobook formfactor. I don’t have the book made yet, as I haven’t graduated, but this blog is a way to share this part of my life in smaller, more digestible chunks. Some pieces I will include in the final book, and some I wont. It exists as a small collection of pretty much unrelated (except sometimes) images, photographs, poems or whatever else I want to include - which I create within a certain timeframe, usually a few weeks. I will update this blog with more entries as my teenage experience progresses, until the day I graduate.

This is my world, curated:

(1) SALUTATIONS, limple, uh oh fire, bright blue? and walls

the machine that feeds and fills my throat with blood in the same breath
choke and taste the metallic red bsdf shader slider
my metal skin scratches stainless steel wool would
science says to light flint and steel and gain weight wait what
becoming flesh sculptural still shiny
shrinking plastic shredded when shrunk and done consumer 4 consumption
stainless cant steel eat countertoped metal kitchen countertoped cant kitchen

A little olive, a little grey corned beef, maybe image transfer, cool brown and an overnote of trash juice. Very occasionally, in a specific position at the end of my bed.

Pimple on lip Lip on pimple limple pip (WAITING FOR THE PIP………….. THERE IT IS!!!!) appeared out of blue. Throbbing and eating on other side of mouth kind of painful. Reminds of baby teeth we should need to fall out (ashnikko mentioned). Science says not to pop but it pused or pussed pus and hurt more so I guess I get it. should entrust the people in the power who know but whoknows what they know that we don’t…. limplegate 2026.

Just finished my first (OF MANY I CAN ONLY HOPE) photo / artist book. love love tactile feeling of in hand soft cover texture pages and physical embodiment of work.... so much work.... but worth all work and needle hurt to hold in hand and show on shelf. *heart*

teacher comment:
"Overall it’s unclear as to how you’ve extended on your inquiry question and focus. No evidence of skill development/mastery of techniques and processes. It doesn’t appear you’ve made choices intentionally to engage the audience. Artist statement tells you what to consider rather than allowing space for the audience to construct their own meaning."

These walls will never forget
Until the day they are scraps in a pile
Which are shredded and used as soil
Then will everything I've ever thought
Amongst these four white walls
Cease to plague the pale container
Who lives to serve the mind, his maker?
Who thought the very thoughts
But not through his own behaviour?
